Position Summary:

The Timekeeping and Staff Accountant ensures timesheet compliance by completing all timesheet processes associated with payroll processing for UDRI. This includes auditing timesheets, running timesheet control reports to identify any issues, contacting users to resolve compliance issues, and answering questions related to timesheets and labor. This position performs all timesheet duties associated with processing timesheet corrections, including reviewing and processing corrections, reviewing reconciliations and making necessary entries based on the reconciliation findings as well as supports timesheet and payroll audits.
The Timekeeping and Staff Accountant performs cost center accounting, account reconciliation, royalty payment reporting, and other accounting duties for the University of Dayton Research Institute.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. B.S. degree and minimum of four years of relevant work experience. Education requirement may be waived for a candidate with 6 years of experience.
2. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
3. Understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts
4. Knowledge of and experience with complex accounting systems
5. Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, and intermediate level experience with Microsoft Excel.
6. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Strong proven analytical, problem solving & organizational skills.

9. US Citizen 

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. Experience with payroll processing
2. Knowledge of DCAA timekeeping regulations
3. Experience with Deltek Costpoint and Ellucian Banner ERPs
4. Experience with defense contracting and/or sponsored research financial management.
5. Experience with approving travel pre-authorizations and vouchers
6. Experience with accounts receivable activities and other accounting practices

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
