Position Summary:

Performs a variety of duties related to food service and sanitation in a timely and efficient manner including but not limited to; greeting and serving customers, stocking counters and serving areas, preparing and replenishing beverages and food items, washing and storing properly all dishes, trays, eating utensils, cups, pots and pans. Maintains work station, other food service areas and equipment to meet cleanliness and food safety standards. Assist with preparation of items used in recipes. Assist others as directed. Must be able to effectively communicate (written and spoken) directly with other employees and staff members in English in a pleasant and professional manner. May be assigned to various or specifics areas based on operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

*Must have a High School diploma or GED.
*Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
* Must be able to exert well paced mobility for periods of up to four (4) hours.
*Must have the ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 40 pounds in weight.
*Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, and use finger dexterity for periods up to four (4) hours at a time.
*Must be able to stand for up to four (4) hours at a time.
*Must be able to listen attentively and comprehend verbal instructions in English.
*Must be able to visually differentiate colors for the purposes of food safety.
*Must be able to work when exposed to wet floors, temperature extremes and loud noise.
*Must be able to work independently with the appropriate amount of supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

*Six months in food service.
*Demonstrates a professional demeanor.
*Successful experience assisting customers
*Experience working with students and a diverse multi cultural staff and customers.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This position is approximately nine months/year (mid August - early May). Must be able to work weekends and holidays. There are positions available at the following locations:

Kennedy Union - Monday- Thursday 1:15pm-8:45pm, Friday 9:30am-5:00pm and rotating Sundays

Marycrest - 3:30pm-11:00pm with rotating weekends

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.

The University will continue to monitor the state of the pandemic on campus and in the community as well as developments in federal and state requirements, and also will continue to regularly consult with public health officials and our medical panel. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, our protocols and requirements are subject to change depending on conditions on campus or in our community, and government requirements.
