This position is supporting the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO). The RSO increases mission readiness by rapidly identifying, applying and scaling technology essential to the operation and sustainment of the U.S. Air Force. Success comes from our teamwork and mutual respect for each other’s talents and unique perspectives. This role supports the government cyber lead and provides cybersecurity support for advanced software-intensive technologies to include agile manufacturing, conditioned-based maintenance, augmented reality/virtual reality, learning neural networks, cloud-based infrastructure and services, and robotics.

Responsibilities for System Administrator

• The System Administrator will assist in planning, developing, implement, and maintain cybersecurity oversight for all aspects of the AMPO cybersecurity program.
• The System Administrator will prevent and defend AMPO cybersecurity program Information Systems against unauthorized access such as securing computer and standalone systems, and data ingress/egress points.
• Maintains and administers the AMPO Information Systems Cybersecurity Software Suites.
• Serves as a member of the Information Technology (IT) team for all AMPO cyber system administration, configuration, hardening, compliance, and security reporting.
• Able to accomplishment computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position.
• Able to analyze and present alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of IT system design and maintenance.
• Monitor baselines changes to information systems.
• Assist and advise maintenance personnel of system security controls implemented. Test and verify system changes after maintenance is performed on the information system.
• Define and brief what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and/or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project or system.
• Assist ISSO and ISSM with security control implementation, development of security control plans and POAMs.
• Responsible for enforcing Information Assurance, Intrusion Detection, and Computer Systems Security for all AMPO Information System and AM Process Systems.
• Responsible for managing Patch Management operations and ensuring all AM information systems meet the Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) or POAM compliance dates.
• Monitor the security of all AM standalone system networks.
• Assist with laptop and desktop computer system configuration management to include imagining, encrypting and performing software and hardware updates.
• Experience and/or completion of specific, IA training which demonstrates IT knowledge, as defined in the IA Approved Baseline Certifications.
• Applies attention to detail. Demonstrated by completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations.
• Demonstrates good customer service through commitment to providing quality products and services for all customers, internal and external.
• Able to speak clear and concise to relay IT related complex information to customers and times adjusting style when working with individuals with different levels of understanding; using various methods to explain and convey information.
• Manage IT security systems to meet current and future business requirements, and apply or extend, enhance, or optimize the existing architecture.
• Willingly helps the team anticipate problems and identifying and evaluating potential sources of information.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
• 8 years of system administration experience
• This position will require a favorably completed Personnel Security Investigation also known as a trustworthiness determination; they do not result in clearance eligibility and are known as a Tier-3 (T3).
• CompTIA Security+ce certification or other DoD 8570 01M Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification
• System administration and IT certifications in Linux and Microsoft Windows
• Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
• Working knowledge of implementing local security policies on Windows and Linux operating systems
• Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
• Experience with scripting and automation tools
• A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
• Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, disaster recovery, and incident response protocols
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Tier 3 background investigation within the past 5 years
• Working Cloud Amazon or Microsoft knowledge
• Experience with Gov Cloud administration
• Experience with CloudOne administration
• Industrial Control network experience
• Additive Manufacturing systems experience
• Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
