The Engineer/Technical Scout will identify, communicate, and connect relevant digital materiel management technologies to government, commercial, and academic clients. They will also plan and coordinate scouting trips to investigate new technologies, support initial technical assessment of viability of concepts, and facilitate initial conversations with potential users across the client’s enterprise. This role will also support the development abstracts, presentations, newsletters, articles, posters showcasing technology efforts relevant to the client’s enterprise. The Engineer/Tech Scout will also provide technical coordination and engineering support to transition relevant technologies as required by client, to include collaboration with other UDRI subject matter experts from required technical disciplines. Additional duties may include but are not limited to generation and coordination of model-based technical data packages and authoring of scientific and technical reports.

Minimum Qualifications: |
• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline • 3 years’ experience in product lifecycle engineering/management • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Effective interpersonal skills • Excellent attention to detail • Ability to work with minimal oversight and within a moderate/high degree of ambiguity • Ability to quickly understand problems and desired outcomes and to formulate viable courses of action • Self-starter • Due to the nature of this position, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications: |
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
• BS or MS in Systems Engineering • Familiarity with Air Force Digital Transformation and Digital Materiel Management • 3 years’ experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) • 3 years’ experience systems modeling using tools based on SysML • 3 years’ experience architecting/implementing integrated digital environments and tool sets • 3 years’ experience in understanding data requirements and architectures • 3 years’ experience in creating and maintaining digital twins • 3 years’ experience in creating, federating, and maintaining digital threads to span cross-functional activities throughout product lifecycles • 3 years’ experience in formulating process, data, and systems solutions to ensure interoperability among components to avoid “vendor lock” associated with proprietary solutions • 3 years’ project management experience • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification • Scrum Master certification

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
