Position Summary:

The University of Dayton invites applications for the next Director of Cost Analysis. This position will join a talented finance team and work cross-functionally with multiple departments in our top-tier research university. The Director of Cost Analysis is responsible for the preparation, analysis, defense and submission of the University's Facilities and Administration (F&A) rate proposal in compliance with Uniform Guidance. This position also prepares, defends and submits the University's annual staff benefit rate proposals. This position will be the University's primary contact with the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) for the F&A rates.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Five (5) years of experience in financial analysis or cost accounting
• Experience in the following:
o Ability to work independently with effective decision making skills
o Proactively and independently identifying issues and following them through to resolution
o Communicating complex financial data to multiple audiences
• Excellent analytical, project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and highly complex spreadsheets
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or Advanced Business or Analytics degree
• CPA, CMA or CGMA or similar designation
• 6+ years experience in financial analysis and/or cost accounting
• Knowledge of Federal regulations and cost principles to include Uniform Guidance (UG), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
• Successful experience in one or more of the following:
o Negotiating Facilities and Administration rates
o Working with the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA)
o Maintaining compliance with governmental guidance and accounting regulations
o Working in Higher Education, government or with government contractors
o Working on complex projects with minimal supervision
• Experience in one or more of the following systems: Ellucian Banner ERP, Cognos reporting tool, Maximus Comprehensive Rate Information System (CRIS)
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
