Position Summary:

The Athletics Communication Assistant will support the Associate Director of Athletics/Communication in promoting Dayton Athletics and its student-athletes. This entry-level position will assist in the editing of content for many University of Dayton intercollegiate sports programs, provide support to sports programs on an as-needed basis, including updating records, and interacting and working with the Athletics marketing and multimedia/broadcasting teams to assist in the coordination of accurate and timely communication services to our sports programs. Additionally this position supports assistant directors of communications with set up and operation of the press facilities at home events. All UD Athletics employees are expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA and the Atlantic 10 Conference.

This is a full time, 10.5 month, hourly position with benefits. Work hours may vary and evening, weekend and some holiday work will be required. Some travel may also be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

HS Diploma and 2 years of successful college coursework (or Associates Degree),
Sports game day experience with ability to work in a fast paced game day environment,
Experienced in TAS/Stat Crew/NCAA Live Stats software,
Strong writing skills including fact checking and editing,
Self-starter and able to work well in a team environment,
Flexible to travel as needed and able to work irregular hours,
Valid driver's license, maintain a low risk driving record and able to be insured by the University.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Bachelor's degree.
Experience working in a collegiate athletics communication department,
Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud software program,
Experience in marketing and promoting using social media platforms,
Experience with baseball,
Able to demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to collaborate effectively with others within a diverse setting,
Able to demonstrate organizational and detail-oriented skills.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
