Position Summary: |

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Composites Technician to join our Structural Materials division, a vital component of our esteemed research endeavors.
POSITION SUMMARY: UDRI is seeking a self-motivated individual with basic technical knowledge and experience in the fabrication and evaluation of polymer matrix composites and constituent material systems. The ideal candidate thrives individually and as part of a team; has technical competencies to perform complex tasks linked to design, development, and improvement of new and existing products; and is eager to broaden knowledge and skills of own technical discipline. Ability to independently plan and execute standard work activities and apply sound problem-solving techniques within a defined project framework is expected along with a willingness to seek and apply guidance from supervisors and team members as required. Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills as well as an understanding of business drivers and how his/her work impacts the work of others are also key qualifications for this position.

Minimum Qualifications: |
- High school diploma or other training in composites or manufacturing - T3: Minimum of 8 years of direct related experience - T2: Minimum of 2 years direct related experience - Ability to lift 50 pounds - Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications: |
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
- Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline - Hands-on experience with polymer composite processing approaches, technologies, and associated equipment - Knowledge and experience preparing materials for testing and analysis - Strong oral and written communication skills - Experience with Solidworks/CAD and machining principles - Experience with Microsoft office and tools for presenting and reporting plans and results - Experience with generating and interpreting data analysis with various software packages - Ability to work with limited supervision
