Position Summary:

Sponsoring Organization: Ohio Association of Foodbanks National Service Program
Host Site: University of Dayton – Office of Energy and Sustainability
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Service Term: June 2, 2025 - June 1, 2026
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week. Primarily weekdays with occasional evening or weekend events.

Summary: Join us as an AmeriCorps VISTA Member and make a meaningful impact in the fight against food insecurity through the University of Dayton's urban agriculture operations. Sponsored by the Ohio Association of Foodbanks, you will be employed and compensated through the AmeriCorps program while serving at the University of Dayton. In this role, you will develop essential systems and resources—including standard operating procedures, educational materials, and volunteer engagement strategies—to strengthen our efforts and foster sustainable and meaningful change in the Dayton community.

Benefits (provided by AmeriCorps):

Living allowance of $1,800 per month
Health care allowance
End of Service Award of either $7,395 Eli Segal Education Award or $1,800 cash stipend
Qualified loans placed into forbearance and interest accrued during year paid
$200 monthly housing allowance
Childcare benefits provided, if eligible
Relocation allowance, if applicable
Biannual in-service trainings and professional development opportunities

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Interest in food justice and environmental sustainability
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • High School Diploma / GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
